Counseling & dance/movement therapy Services
At AbunDANCE Somatic Center, we believe that true healing requires more than just conversationβit requires a reconnection to your physical self. We offer a specialized integration of traditional mental health counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) to support your journey toward holistic well-being.
Our approach is rooted in the M3 Method, providing a safe, confidential sanctuary where the mind and body are treated as a single, cohesive system. By utilizing research-based somatic practices, we help you move beyond "talking about" your challenges and into a state of active, embodied resolution.
Our Therapeutic Focus:
Somatic Exploration: We provide the space to explore deep-seated concerns by listening to the "bottom-up" signals of the body.
Movement as Medicine: Using Dance/Movement Therapy, we help you "thaw" emotional stagnation and develop coping strategies that are felt, not just thought.
Embodied Growth: We work with you to develop a "Master Mindset" that is anchored in a regulated, resilient nervous system.
Licensure & Availability: To maintain the highest clinical standards and comply with state regulations, our counseling services are exclusively available to residents of Colorado, Arizona, and Vermont.
what is dance/movement therapy?
Most of us have been taught that healing happens from the neck upβthrough talking, analyzing, and "figuring things out." But your body stores the memories and stressors that your mind sometimes canβt find words for.
Dance/Movement Therapy is the psychotherapeutic use of movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive, and physical integration. At AbunDANCE, we use DMT as the ultimate "Bottom-Up" tool. It isn't about learning a dance; itβs about learning to listen to the "dance" of your nervous system.
How It Works: The M3 Approach to DMT
Itβs Not a Performance: You donβt need to be a "dancer." Movement in therapy can be as subtle as a change in breathing, a shift in posture, or a simple gesture.
It Bridges the Gap: When you feel "stuck" or "numb," DMT helps Move that stagnation out of your tissues.
Itβs Research-Based: DMT is a masterβs-level profession that utilizes the connection between the motor system and the emotional centers of the brain to release trauma and build resilience.
It Builds "Map" Skills: By moving, we can more easily Map where anxiety or joy lives in your body, making those feelings easier to manage in your daily life.

A"What to Expect" FAQ
Q: Do I need dance experience? A: Not at all. If you have a body and it moves, you can benefit from DMT. We focus on "authentic movement"βwhat your body wants to do, not what it's told to do.
Q: Is this different from a regular dance class? A: Yes. In a dance class, the goal is the aesthetic (how it looks). In DMT, the goal is the aesthetic of your internal experience (how it feels and what it reveals).
Q: How does this help my mental health? A: By engaging the body, we can bypass the "defenses" of the logical mind. This allows us to process stress, trauma, and performance anxiety at the root levelβthe nervous system.
